Background:

A caucus for Diaspora political aspirants from different parts of the USA in the coming general elections was held in June 24th in the State of Delaware. The meeting, whose theme was “Kenya for All”, discussed a wide range of issues on the status of our nation, which culminated in several resolutions. The aspiring candidates met amid controversy surrounding the voting rights of diaspora Kenyans in the coming elections and the mutilation of the new constitution by sitting MPs.

The meeting resolved to form a forum dubbed “Kenya for All” to address, among other issues:

a) Voting rights of Kenyans living abroad
b) Organizing political debates for all candidates
c) Sensitize voters to elect value-driven leaders

The diaspora aspirants who will vie for different positions plans for a Kenyan home-coming and also hold joint campaigns to showcase the agenda they have for their constituents.

DEBATEWATCH

1. This is the process of regrouping in different venues, before elections, to watch recorded debates and discuss candidates' ideas

2. Kenya Debates can assist in establishing DebateWatches through social media, media houses, its website and in colleges

3. DebatesWatch is an empowering, educative process that allows the larger voter-audience that missed the televised debates to watch and review the candidates

4. The process also allows for gauging of attitudes and shifting of paradigms among electorate, moving the swing-voter to making a stand

5. It allows for choice of leadership based on vision, ideology and merit, and less on ethnic and personality traits
